What is Quantum Resistance?

Quantum Resistance is a major problem in cryptocurrency space because in short future it will be developed new type of computers based on Quantum technology. Google, IBM or governments are currently working on the development. The main difference is that classic PC have bits but quantum computers have qubits. As a result, quantum computers can do much faster and complex operations then classic PCs. If you don’t hear about Quantum computing, you can find out more on Wikipedia.

What exactly does it mean for cryptocurrencies?

Quantum computers should mine crypto-coins much faster, then actual computers based on bits. This can cause a rapid increase of mined coins in a network and subsequently price drop on major cryptocurrencies. Only projects that have quantum resistance can survive this wave. There are few projects, that have resistance function to quantum computers. The biggest project with this functions is IOTA.
